Little Easter Friends

This really is the easiest of patterns!

Requirements

Small amounts of double Knitting type yarn in white, yellow, pink and blue or colours of your choice.
black for eyes and orange for mouth.
Size 4mm needles.
Toy stuffing or easter eggs

Main Piece for all friends

Using colour of choice and 4mm needles cast on 30 sts.
Work 30 rows in garter stitch (every row knit)
Break off yarn, thread through all 30 sts pull tight to gather and sew securely in place.

To Make up

With wrong side showing and sewing needle and matching yarn join the side edges and over sew, this seam will run down the centre back. Turn in side out.

Chicks
Use white or yellow or one of each for main piece.
Using photo as a guide, with black yarn embroider eyes using french knotts, with orange add beak.

Wings (make 2)
Using yarn same colour as main piece cast on 5sts work 5 rows in garter stitch and cast off tightly, leaving a tail of yarn, thread this onto a sewing needle and run a stitch through the cast off end and gather, secure and sew into place halfway down main piece.

For top knot using same yarn as main piece make 4 loops ( I made a string of chain stitch with 3mm crochet hook) and sew into place.

Mouse
Use pink or colour of your choice for main piece.
Using photo as guide, with black yarn embroider eyes and nose
( I added whiskers as I had some eyelash yarn of same colour).

Ears (make 2)
Using yarn same colour as main piece cast on 10sts and work 3rows in garter stitch.
Next row k2tog across row (5sts), breakyarn and thread through these 5 sts pull tight and fasten off. Fold the cast on edge in half and sew in place. Place both ears side by side on top of mouse.

Tail
Using yarn same colour as main piece cast on 30 sts and cast off tightly, sew one end of tail in place at base.

Bunny
Use blue or colour of your choice for main piece.
Using photo as guide, with black yarn embroider eyes and nose ( I added whiskers as I had some eyelas yarn of same colour).

Ears (make 2)
Using yarn same colour as main piece cast on 8sts , work 5 rows garter stitch and cast off. Fold row ends in  half using one of tail ends oversew across row end for base of ear. Sew side by side ontop of bunny.

Tail
Cast on 12 sts, Knit 2tog across row (6sts). Break off yarn and thread through 6 sts pull tight and sew row edges together. Sew tail to centre back of bunny fust above the edge.
Tail can be same colour as main piece or white its upto to you, I used eyelash yarn of same colour.

As they are now these little friends can be filled with small easter egg they will fit quite snug over kinder or cream egg. But as I made this for my granddaughter who is not yet old enough for chocolate  I decided to stuff mine with pillow stuffing and place a little bell in each, then sew cast on end together.
