Little Kitty Baby Beanie

Baby hats are fun and satisfying knitting projects. Their small size makes them easy to complete in a matter of hours. They don't require much yarn, with some designs using less than a skein. You can even splurge on luxury yarn, such as cashmere. Knitting a baby hat is a way to try out a novelty yarn or stitch pattern without making a major commitment. Start with a simple hat and let your creativity inspire you to make one-of-a-kind variations.

I had lots of fun making these two baby hats

Size: New born
Hat measures 12 inches (30 cm) in diameter; length 5 inches (13 cm) from rim to crown.

Materials:
Size 4 mm (5 US) needles
DK weight yarn White,  pink or blue.
For nose ,eyes and mouth DK weight yarn black
For ears and whiskers eyelash type yarn pink or blue

21.5 sts= 4 inches (10 cm)

Instructions
Hat
Starting at brim, with  pink or blue CO 64 sts and work in K2, p2 until brim measures 1 inch (3 cm) from beg.
Then work in St st

6 rows pink or blue
6 rows white
6 rows pink or blue
4 rows white

Shape Top Of Hat
Still in white  *k2 tog, k7 rep from* to last 2 sts k2tog- 56 st
Next row : Purl
Change to Pink or blue  knit 1 row then purl 1 row
Continuing in stripe sequence as established, shape top and finish:
Row 1 (RS) K 1, *k 4, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k 1 - 47 sts.
Rows 2, 4 and 6 Purl.
Row 3 K 1, *k 3, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k 1 - 38 sts.
Row 5 K 1, *k 2, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k 1 - 29 sts.
Row 7 K 1, *k2tog; rep from * across - 15 sts.
Row 8 *P2tog; rep from * to last st, p 1 - 8 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing seam. With large-eyed blunt needle, thread tail through remaining sts on needle. Pull tightly and secure. Sew back seam.

EAR - Make 2
With eye lash yarn, cast on 16 sts. and knit 3 rows. Pass all sts, 1 at a time, over first st. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining st and pull to tighten.

NOSE
With Black , cast on 5 sts.
Row 1 Knit.
Rows 2 and 4 Purl.
Row 3 K2tog, k 1, k2tog - 3 sts.
Row 4 Purl.
Row 5 K3tog - 1 st.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining st; pull to tighten.


FINISHING
Using photo as a guide, place Ears  and sew to each side of Hat about 1inch apart. Sew Nose in place, embroider smile. With eyelash yarn, embroider 3 whiskers on each side of Nose using Stem st. With white, embroider iris. With black, outline Eyes.

Jake's Twilight Beanie

Jacob "Jake" Black is a fictional character in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer He is described as a Native American of the Quileute tribe in La Push, near Forks, Washington. In the second book of the series, he undergoes a transformation that allows him to morph into a wolf
 As a werewolf  Jacob needs a hat that can be pulled very low over his eyes and ears. Very stretchy is also good for him, because his head shape may change. This pattern is based on a beanie he wore in that series, is very easy and knits up fast.

Materials:

100grms- Chunky type yarn

6mm (US10)  needles

Embroidery needle for weaving in ends and sewing seam.

Gauge: 10cm x 10cm = 18 stitches x 22 rows on 6mm needles.

Abbreviations:
K – knit
Kfb – knit into the front and back of the stitch

K2tog – knit two stitches together
P - purl
Rep – repeat
St st - stockinette stitch

Instructions:


Cast on 75 sts

Row 1 : *k1 p2; rep from * to end
Row 2 : * k2, p1, rep from* to end
Repeat these two rows until row 30 is completed.
Row 31: kfb, knit to end (76 sts)
Row 32 : purl
Continue in St st until work measures 8cm from top of ribbing.

Crown Decreases
Row 1: (k9, k2tog) 6 times, k10 (70 sts)
Row 2 and all alternate rows: purl
Row 3: (k8, k2tog) 7 times (63 sts)
Row 5: (k7, k2tog) 7 times (56 sts)
Row 7: (k6, k2tog) 7 times (49 sts)
Row 9: (k5, k2tog) 7 times (42 sts)
Row 11: (k4, k2tog) 7 times (35 sts)
Row 13: (k3, k2tog) 7 times (28 sts)
Row 15: (k2, k2tog) 7 times (21 sts)
Row 17: (k1, k2tog) 7 times (14 sts)
Row 19: (k2tog) 7 times (7 sts)
Break off yarn and thread through remaining sts with a yarn needle. Pull tight and
secure. Sew seam and weave in ends.
