Fit For a Princess

Here is a set - shrug, headband and shoes that is indeed fit for a princess. Basic easy to knit items made special by adding knitted flowers with a crystal bead in the center.

FLOWERS
You wil need  6 for shrug (or more if you desire) 1 for headband and 1 each shoe = 9 in total

Cast on 4 stitches.
Row 1. Knit front & back of 1st stitch, knit 3 (5sts)
Row 2. Knit front & back of 1st stitch, purl 4 (6sts)
Row 3. Knit front & back of 1st stitch, knit 5 (7sts)
Row 4. Knit front & back of 1st stitch purl 6 (8sts). Cut yarn leaving a 4'' tail and leave on a spare needle.
Repeat 4 more times but do not cut yarn on last petal
Row 5. Join all petals by knitting across (40 sts)
Row 6. Purl 2 together across row (20 sts)
Row 7. Knit 2 together across row (10sts)
Row 8. Purl 2 together, purl 3 together, prul 2 together, purl 3 together
Thread yarn through stitches and pull tight.
Sew into place


SHRUG


MEASUREMENTS
To fit ages 3-6(6-9:9-12) months.
Actual measurements
Chest 51(55:60)cm;
Length to shoulder
24(27:29)cm; Sleeve length 13(15:17)cm.
MATERIALS
100(150:150)grms double knitting type yarn
5mm straight knitting needles.
5mm circular knitting needle.
4.5mm circular knitting needle.

TENSION
18 sts and 24 rows to 10cm square over st-st using 5mm needles.
ABBREVIATIONS
m1 make one st by picking up and working into back of loop lying between st just worked and next st;
skpo slip 1, k1, pass slipped st over;
BACK, FRONT and SLEEVES
(worked in one piece)
With 5mm needles cast on 8 sts.
P 1 row.
Beg with a k row, work in st-st.
Cast on 10(11:12) sts at beg of next 4 rows. 48(52:56) sts.
Beg with a k row, work 20(24:26) rows in st-st.
Change to 5mm circular needle.
Shape sleeves
Cast on 5(6:7) sts at beg of next 8 rows. 88(100:112) sts.
Work a further 18(22:24) rows.
Divide for fronts
Next row K36(41:47) sts, leave these sts on a holder.
cast off next 16(18:18) sts, knit to end.
Cont on last set of 36(41:47) sts for left front.
Work 5(5:7) rows straight, ending at front edge.
Next row (RS) K3, m1, knit to end.
Work 3 rows straight.
Rep the last 4 rows 2(3:3) times more and the inc row once more. 40(46:52) sts.
Sleeve shaping
Cast off 5(6:7) sts at beg
of next and 3 foll alt rows. 20(22:24) sts.
Work 8(10:10) rows straight.
Shape front
Next row (RS) K1, skpo, knit to end.
Next row Purl to end.
Rep the last 2 rows 1(2:3) times more.
Next row Cast off 2 sts, knit to end.
Next row Purl to end.
Next row Cast off 3 sts, knit to end.

k22(24:26) sts evenly round right front to top of shaping, 11(11:13) sts along straight edge, then
16(18:20) sts to shoulder, 24(26:28) sts from back neck, 16(18:20) sts down left front to beg of neck shaping, 11(11:13) sts along straight edge, and k22(24:26) sts evenly round shaped edge, then k4(5:6) sts from holder. 130(142:158) sts.
1st row P2, * k2, p2; rep from * to end.
2nd row K2, * p2, k2; rep from * to end.
Rep the last 2 rows once more and 1st row again.
Cast off in rib.
LOWER BACK EDGING
With RS facing and 4.5mm needles, pick up and k54(58:62) sts along lower edge of back.
Work 5 rows in rib as given for front edging.
Cast off in rib.
CUFFS
With RS facing and 4.5mm needles, pick up and k30(34:42) sts along lower edge of sleeve.
Work 5 rows in rib as given for front edging.
Cast off in rib.
TO MAKE UP
Join side and sleeve seams. Add flowers and beads.

SHOES



Sizes:
3-6 months (3.5 inches)
6-9 months (4 inches)
9-12 months (4.5 inches)

Small amount of DK yarn

Easy Knit Baby Shrug


This baby shrug is an easy, quick knit with minimal seaming, no buttons or zippers.


MEASUREMENTS
To fit ages 3-6(6-9:9-12:12-18:18-24) months.
Actual measurements
Chest 51(55:60:64:69)cm;
Length to shoulder
24(27:29:31:33)cm; Sleeve length 13(15:17:20:22)cm.
MATERIALS
100(150:150:200:200)grms double knitting type yarn
5mm straight knitting needles.
5mm circular knitting needle.

This knitted party dress would make a unique present for your new little baby or the baby of a special friend.With puff sleeves and a ruffle at the bottom, your special little lady will be the belle of the ball.  4 button back enclosure. Ribbon trim above ruffle. Hand knitted from soft lightweight baby yarn.

Leaf Panel Baby Jacket



The lovely thing about knitting for babies/toddlers is that it doesn’t take very long to finish – such tiny things that knit up quickly.
Easy Seed stitch, leaf panel and collar embelishes this addorable, easy to knit baby jacket.

SIZES  6-9 (9-12, 12-18, 18-24) months
Finished measuremens . 20'' (22, 24, 25.5)''

MATERIALS:
2 x 100grms Baby Soft Cotton or Double Knit Type Yarn

1 pair needles size 3.75mm (US 5)
1 pair needles size 4mm (US 6) or size to obtain gauge
4 Buttons

GAUGE: 22sts and 28 rows = 4inches in Stockinette stitch on larger needles.

SPECIAL TERMS :
YO - yarn over (1 stitch increased)
SSK - (slip slip knit) slip the first stitch as if to knit, slip the second stitch as if to knit, then slide the left-hand needle into the front part of both stitches and knit them together.
SSP - (slip slip purl)  as with ssk,slip the 2 stitches on at a time as if to knit to the right needle. Purl them together through the back loops.
M1 - ( make one)  An increase worked by lifting the horizontal thread lying between the needles and placing it onto the left-hand needle. Work this new stitch through the back loop.

Seed stitch -

Row 2 Knit the purl stitch and purl the knit stitch as they face you.
Repeat row 2.

Shape Armholes: (RS) 
Cast off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows — 46 (52, 58, 64) sts rem.
 Work even until armholes measures 4.5'' (5, 5.5, 6)'' from armhole shaping, end WS row. 
Cast off all stitches loosely.





LEFT FRONT 
With larger needles, cast on 26 (28, 30, 32) sts. 
(RS) Begin Seed St; work even until work meas 1" from beg, end WS row.
 Establish Leaf Panel:
 (RS) Work 15 (17, 19, 21) sts in St st, work 10 sts in Leaf Panel, work 1 st in St st. Continue as 
established for 23 more rows, end WS Row 8 of Leaf Panel.
 Change to St st; (RS) work even until work meas 6.5''  (7, 7.5 , 8)" from beg, end WS row. 
Shape Armhole: (RS) cast off 4 sts, work to end — 22 (24, 26, 28) sts rem. 
Work even until armhole meas 2.5'' (2, 1.5, 2)" from armhole shaping, end RS row.
 Shape Neck: (WS) cast off 6 (6, 7, 7) sts, work to end —16 (18, 19, 21) sts rem

SLEEVES 
With larger needles, Cast on 34 (34, 36, 38) sts. 
(RS) Begin Seed St; work even until work measures 1" from beg, end WS row.
 Change to St st and Shape Sleeve: (RS) Inc 1 st each side this row ,
 then every 6th row 5 (0, 0, 0) times, then every 4th row 2 (10, 11, 13) times — 50 (56, 60, 66) sts.
 Work even until sleeve measures 7.5'' (7.75 , 8.5 , 9.5 )" from beg, end WS row.
 (RS) Cast off all sts. 


FINISHING 
Sew shoulder seams. Set in Sleeves. Sew side seams. 
Buttonband: With smaller needles,  cast on 6 sts and work in Seed stitch until the band reaches the top of the leaf pattern.
Place the first button hole as so:  k1, p1, yo, p2tog, k1, p1,
continue in seed stitch placing  three more button holes evenly spaced.
When band is level with the neck shaping ending with a wrong side row, cast off in seed stitch. 
Button Band : With smaller needle cast on 6 sts and work in seed stitch until band is level with neck shaping ending on a right side row, cast off in seed stitch.
Sew bands in place.

Collar 
with smaller needle begin just after the button hole band  pick up and knit in seed stitch 20sts evenly, continue in seed stitch and pick up 24 (42,60,66) sts from the back, then 20 sts evenly to just before the button band.  64 (82, 100,106) sts.
Work evenly in seed stitch for  2.5'' (3,3, 3.5)''
Cast off. 
Sew on buttons.

Cute Baby Stole and Beret


After making the Romantic Stole for a friend I was asked if I could make something similar for a baby girl. This is what I came up with.
The pattern is so easy and hardly takes anytime at all and is for baby aged 6 - 12months.






You'll need size 4.5mm needles 
4mm cırcular needle for edging
1 ball Double knit type yarn
1 ball eyelash type yarn
The tension guide is 14 sts and 19 rows over 4inches/10cm


Abbreviations
K- knit
P- purl
St st- stocking stitch (knit across front row, purl across back row)
k2tog - knit 2 stitches together
yo - yarn over needle


Using eyelash yarn cast on 115sts.
Work in St st for 8 rows.
Change to double knitting yarn and work 8 rows St st .
Change to eyelash yarn and work 8 rows St st
Change to double knitting yarn and work 8 rows St st
Change to eyelash yarn and work 8 rows St st
Decrease for shoulder shaping
Change to double knitting yarn  K1. (K2tog. K17) 6 times. 109 sts.
Next and every alternate row: Purl
Next row: K1,(K2tog, K16) 6 times. 103sts
Next row:K1, (K2tog, K15) 6 times. 97sts
Next row:K1, (K2tog, K14) 6 times. 91sts
Change to eyelash yarn and work 8 rows straight St st and cast off.


Edging
I used picot edging but you can use any edging you prefer.
Neck edge with double knitting yarn and right side facing pick up 85st evenly  and knit 2 row St st
Next row K1, *yo, k2tog, rep from * to end
Next row purl
Next work 2 rows St st
Cast off.
Front and back edging with circluar needle, double knitting yarn and rightside facing pick up 56st down left front, 115across back and 56st up right front  227st in all. Work edging same as neck edging. With wrong side  Facing  fold the at the eyelet row. Carefully sew the cast-off row to the piece.


Flower Fastening.



With double knitting yarn  Cast on 4 stitches.
Row 1. Knit front & back of 1st stitch, knit 3 (5sts)
Row 2. Knit front & back of 1st stitch, purl 4 (6sts)
Row 3. Knit front & back of 1st stitch, knit 5 (7sts)
Row 4. Knit front & back of 1st stitch purl 6 (8sts). Cut yarn leaving a 4’’ tail and leave on a spare needle.
Repeat 4 more times but do not cut yarn on last petal
Row 5. Join all petals by knitting across (40 sts)Row 6. Purl 2 together across row (20 sts)
Row 7. Knit 2 together across row (10sts)
Row 8. Purl 2 together, purl 3 together, prul 2 together, purl 3 together
Thread yarn through stitches and pull tight and sew into place. Secure all loose ends.




You can finish off flowers by adding beads, buttons or anything you wish in the center I used some of the eyelash yarn to make a small 'bobble'.



Beret

Instructions:
With double knitting yarnCast on 60 sts
Join in the round, being careful not to twist sts.
Place stitch marker to indicate start of round.
 Roll Brim:
Work stocking stitch by knitting every round for 1.5 inches or 3.75 cm
Change to eyelash yarn then work increase round once as follows:


Next rnd:
*K2, M1; rpt from * to end 90 sts


Body:
Work plain stocking stitch (knit every round)
until
main body measures 2.5 inches or 6.25 cm from increase round.


Crown shaping:
Next rnd:
*K13, K2tog; rpt from * to end.
Next rnd:
*K12, K2tog; rpt from * to end.
Next rnd:
*K11, K2tog; rpt from * to end.
Next rnd:
*K10, K2tog; rpt from * to end.
Carry on in this fashion decreasing 6 sts per round until you have 6 sts remaining.
Next rnd:
*K2tog; rpt from * to end 3 sts cut yarn thread through sts and fasten off tightly.


Finishing:
Weave in all ends. A light blocking is recommended to help the shaping settle. It is best to block this Hat flat, as a circle, with the crown at the centre.

Easy Knit Baby Party Dress




This knitted party dress would make a unique present for your new little baby or the baby of a special friend.With puff sleeves and a ruffle at the bottom, your special little lady will be the belle of the ball.  4 button back enclosure. Ribbon trim above ruffle. Hand knitted from soft lightweight baby yarn.

5-6oz (155gr) baby soft double knit type yarn.
size 4.25mm   (US 6) needles
3/8'' wide Red satin ribbon approx 1yrd

Gauge
St st (1row knit, 1 row purl) 5sts 7 rows =1inch

Instructions
Back - Ruffle
Cast on 98sts
Row 1 (right side) Purl.
Row 2 *K1, K1 in next stitch on row below ( see photo) rep from* to last 2sts, K2
Rows 3-8 repeat row 2
Row 9  K2 *K1 in next stitch on row below, K1 repeat from* across row
Row 10 - 14 repeat row 9
Row 15 - 26 repeat row 2

Skirt
Row 1 (decrease row) K2 *K2tog, K1 rep from * across - 66sts
Row 2 (eyelet row) K1 *K2tog, Yo, rep from* to last st K1

Work even in St st until skirt measures 5'' above ruffle ending with wrong side row.

Sew sleeves in place and side seams. Fix button placket and sew in place. Thread ribbon through eyelet.
